Between 1982 – 1990 Hassine Habre was the president of Chad. The Extraordinary African Chambers will try him for crimes against humanity later this year. Some reports claim he was responsible for the deaths of 40,000 Chadians during his reign.


4 policemen were shot and killed by some 20 members of an Islamist group called Okba Ibn Nafaa in the Kasserine region of Tunisia.


€20,000 was spent on takeaway food at the official residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The figure was released as part of a report into his expenses. The residence has a paid chef.


In the academic year 2013 – 2014 10,194 Iranians studied at a third level institution in the U.S.A. The University of Massachusetts sparked controversy last week when it was announced that they had considered banning Iranians from certain scientific courses on their campus.


Former Romanian Youth Minister Monica Iacob Ridzi, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for corruption. She spent 3.21m Lei (€500,000) on concerts involving contractors and individuals she favoured.
